What's new in the OPEN for the 2022 season?
What has changed in Rulebook 2022 from last year?
There will be 3 options to increase the scores:
1.- Do the Open at an affiliated CrossFit: It is the most common way to make the Open and the most fun, since you share the suffering with your teammates in the box. The head coach is usually the person who validates your scores.
2.- Upload the video of your Open: If you do not have access to an affiliated box, you can upload your score along with a link to your video. Athletes with aspirations of advancing in the competition must record all Opens in case they are requested by the organization for review.
3.- ¡New! Do the Open with a judge: If you do not have access to an affiliated box, you can take the Open wherever you want together with someone who has completed the 2022 judge's course.
Open Scores
In this Open the scores will appear immediately when uploaded to the leaderboard without having to wait to be validated by the coach.
This was one of the most demanded claims.
The coach must also validate the scores or they will disappear at the end of the validation period.
Age Group
The 10% of the highest scoring athletes in the Open will advance to the Quarterfinals.
The best 30 athletes from each division after Quarterfinals will be invited to compete in a Semifinal (Online) and the top 10 men and 10 women will be invited to CrossFit Games..
Adaptive
The 20 best athletes from each division in the Open will be invited to an online competition which will serve as Semifinal for 3 divisions and Final for 5 others.
Neuromuscular, Lower Extremity, and Upper Extremity will send the top 5 athletes to compete in the Madison Finals..
Athletes in various divisions
Athletes may compete in the individual, team and age group Quarterfinals if they wish.
However, en the Semi-Finals phase, athletes must choose a single division to compete in..
Location of athletes
During the registration process, athletes must inform in which continent will compete and will remain on that continent for the entire season.
The criterion for determining the continent on which to compete is the athlete citizenship and cannot be changed after the end of the first event in the CrossFit Open 2022.
Athletes with dual nationality must choose the country they wish to represent at the time of registration.
Athletes are not required to live in the country in which they have determined their citizenship. Example: An athlete with Argentine nationality could compete from Spain.
CrossFit recognizes the following continents:
North America
Europa
Oceania
Asia
South America
Africa
For doubts about the countries that make up each continent, please consult here the listing.

The CrossFit rulebook is the rules governing the current CrossFit season and accepted by the athletes when they decide to participate either as an amateur or as a professional. It specifies not only how to classify the Games, but also the standards of movement during the Open, or the anti-doping rules.
